Or at least that's what it portrays to me.

I'll be making a video for it eventually. For now though, here's "Tribe of Man" uploaded to SoundCloud.

http://soundcloud.com/johnsky7/tribe-of-man

      Tribe Of Man by Johnsky

OH MY GOD I HATE MY LUCK!

...

...

I really hate my luck.

So, I was about to do a final rendition of my latest work and release it, along with the finished version of Clanner...

... and my hard drive died.

Its dead.

Not dead as in "Maybe it's just a corruption I can fix with a repair disk" dead.
Dead as in, IT CANNOT BE SEEN FROM A LIVE CD OF LINUX OR THE BIOS ITSELF.

Its all gone.

Kaput.

Missing.

Dead.

All that work... all that effort... for WHAT?!
So the hard drive can fail?

Luckily for me, I had been making continuous recordings onto CD to keep a record of how I progressed... and to listen to it in the car.

... these however are not the original files, which means I have to
1: Buy a new hard drive.
2: Reinstall Windows (I HATE YOU WINDOWS)
3: Reinstall Cubase
4: Reinstall my VTS instruments.
5: Reinstall the drivers for my piano's interface.
6: RE-RECORD EVERYTHING!!!!!!

As it stands right now, I'm using a live CD of linux with no physical hard drive to write this. (I LOVE YOU LINUX!)

So... I've got 5 days of work ahead of me in my full time headache, after which I'll be buying a hard drive, and getting the whole process started AGAIN.

Yeah, it's my fault for not keeping lots of backups...
... but at the same time... I can't help but feel enraged at the shoddy manufacturing processes of these hard drives... THIS WASN'T SOME CHEAP DAMNED DRIVE I GOT AT A DISCOUNT PRICE!

And its dead... along with countless days of work.

I will be making continuous backups of EVERYTHING from now on.
I cannot express how incredibly angry I am at the moment.

Back to the daily grind until I can pay for a replacement drive and start fresh again...
Looks like I won't be posting the finished version of Clanner, but I'll post the near finished version I had kept on CD later so you can hear it.

New Beginnings

For those who had previously read my blogs, you know I've lost an awful lot of work. While at first I viewed this as a horrible setback, I'm now viewing it as a fresh start.

And as such, I've wiped my blog clean.
(All the links are now dead anyways as the file host I was using went bankrupt, and along with it, everything I had stored on-line. I've got partial files of the old stuff... I'll revisit them one day and remake them. But not right now)

This comes of course, not long after merely starting to record my music onto a computer through analogue means... before that I was recording onto cassette tapes, of which all have been "borrowed" and have since never been seen.

So I turned my attention to simply creating music for the purpose of listening to as I drive to and from work.

One of the little pieces I did was this : I call it swift.

Click here if video is too wide to fit.

It's a silly little piece, not intended to be taken seriously. The point of music is to invoke an emotion, and this one does just that... it is, nevertheless a silly emotion.

I added this to you tube a short while back with a care free and ultimately pointless video... exactly what I was going for. Laugh at it, please do!

After that, I've begun work on something I'm calling "Clanner" for the meantime... it's name is rapidly changing, it was originally referred to as "Tribal".
It's a work in progress, no-where near finished.

NOT FINISHED!
I can't express that enough. Since uploading this I've added a heck of allot more to it with plenty of variety, and what seems to be a rather nice crescendo at the end... however I haven't uploaded the latest recording onto youtube. I'm reserving that for when I've finished it. So if you want it, you'll have to wait.

Those of you who know me know I have very little time to spend on my music. Like all of you, I maintain a full time job and the stresses that go with it. I would absolutely LOVE to have more time to focus on my music... but that's a dream.

Anyways... carrying on.
A friend of mine is looking to have something to sing to for a demo song... I'm rather excited that she chose me to do the music for her. As it stands, I'm working on a remake of Moonlight Desires. I'm really liking how it's coming so far.

You'll get to hear that when I've got enough to upload. For now... my full time ball of stress occupies most of my time. I estimate you'll get to hear the finished version of "Clanner" or whatever I'm going to call it within a week. I've got next Monday off, so once the errands, bills, chores, and repairs are out of the way, I might have an hour or two to work on it.
Then I'll think of what to do for the video... or maybe no video... who knows.

Go life.
